about institution

'Mickey of Ulladulla',was a Dhurga man of coastal New South Wales who lived in the Moruya-Ulladulla area from the time of his birth in the 1820's till his death in 1891.

His works, about 26 in all, depict a complex ceremonial, social and economic lifestyle that was under great pressure from the European invasion.

This artwork, supplied by AIATSIS, is a valuable piece of Australia's indigenous heritage. It represents (particularly for the south-east region of New South Wales Australia), a strong continuity between traditional and contemporary Aboriginal arts.
